Civyiu Kkliu makes sound art described as “forceful, marked
by subtle changes, having a relative evenness and thickness like a
cross-section of the ground, or an expanse of water.” Under
the name Robert Machado, he is a writer and photographer, as well
as a visual artist. The pictures are "quiet, un-alluding, with
the aesthetic drama of abstract formalism." His poetry is flat,
hard, and clear.
Work has been exhibited, performed, and installed in galleries
on the west coast of the US (San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco).
He has lectured on modern literature at the University of San Diego,
and presented his work on Shakespeare's Othello at Bogaziçi
University, Istanbul, Turkey.
